Wow, this thread haven't been touched for three years now!
Wraiths from Scotland and their "Oriflamme" is pouring down from my speakers. Now that their works are easier to find on the net, I can finally familiarize myself with their sick but hypnotic sounds to a greater degree. This is well done death industrial stuff.

ImpetuousRitual "Relentless Execution of Ceremonial Excrescence". I was quite interested to find out what it so good about this monstrosity, since a lot of people have been praising this album. I see now, that it is not without a reason. Definitely impressive abrasive black death metal. Almost like a sonic aquivalent of Shoggoth. It kind of reminds of Portal, but not as warped as them. While I'm not keen on these bestial type of bands, simply because I find majority of them very lame and dumb (no offence to anyone). Another good exception is Antaeus) with their "De Principii Evangelikum".
I was also very tempted to give UK's Abyssal a go. Their "Denouement" has a lovely raw production and very decent perfomance. While the overall atmosphere is great, but the blending of of riffs and styles is quite patchy so it's kind of a little weakness in my humble opinion. Also vocals do lack some more vivid expression. Will have to hear if and how things changed o "Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius".

Funerary Call from Canada and the album "Dark Waters Stirred". Another project of Harlow MacFarlane, the guy behind Sistrenatus. Good dark ambient with subtle but unique twist and religious overtones. While being an alter ego, FC still resembles Sistrenatus in manner quite a bit, though less noisier, more subconscious. Jigoku Nohara is quite obscure one and hard to obtain. "Ankoku" EP is something I would define as "aural emanations of Onryo". And it is not so far from the truth: "JIGOKU NHR combines surreal audio horror and avantgarde noize with classical drones & visceral dark ambient soundtextures. ''A mental and physical approach on noize manipulation.'' An interesting project to keep an eye on.

Kadrage "Tiefenrausch" - A ghostly mellow and somewhat comforting ambient drone. There is nothing dark or oppressive about it, but it rather fits for this hour of this really nice day while doing a 3D modelling.

Dapnom "ActesPréalables" is some very twisted dark...no, I guess one could probably call it black ambient already. Very sick otherworldly atmosphere in here. Partly reminds me of Bestia Centauri because of similarly chaotic directions of elements, and partly Pulsfear hazing drones. Dapnom is somewhere in between these. And the artwork is just lovely.

Cool, I have a different Dapnom album somewhere. It is pretty horrific stuff.

It surely is. As I currently work with some of my the scariest music up to date (more information will will follow rather soon), Dapnom comes as quite inspiring stuff and is definitely worth to be researched a little bit more.

Novit was a massive improvement, though more focused on rhythm than Denouement, but both compliment one another in various ways too, rather than being a linear progression. Hellthrasher (Poland) have reissued Denouement on CD and LP for those interested and Profound Lore (Canada) have reissued a digipack of Novit already, whilst yours truly will produce a very special, uniquely presented cassette edition. They are definitely one of the finer newer death metal bands to pop up and are worthy of anyone's attention who favours murky, ancient darkness.

Terra Tenebrosa from Sweden and album "The Purging". I pleasantly surprised to hear something like this coming from the shore of Scandinavia, since their black and death metal nowadays mostly is so stale and boring. This is something different and interesting. Like some heavily drugged post metal but far from being trite.
