Truthfully, after seeing the new trailer, i'm going to stick by my original opinion.... it looks like a direct rip from the first SH (mixed with the second). Only with a girl as the front-person.. I guess I shall have to wait and see... let's just hope they don't screw it up! As an added note... I would personally love to see a Akria Yamaoka/The Axis Of Perdition/Merzbow/SunnO)))/Malefic (of Xasthur fame) collaboration... I believe my brain would melt on the announcement of that. My god, man. Think of the logistics!! How many flights would that involve? About...... 4. Or 3... depends on whose travelling where. The most flights would be taken on by the Axis though... as seeing that the US air system (which they would have to travel through if they were to meet the others) is quite a piece of rust-encrusted filth. (In a bad way, I assure you). But, hey, I would still love to hear the outcomes of that unholy union. Actually, add in Kammarheit, Nordvargr, and Sephiroth (on Cold Meat, not the European Black Metal band) and I would glady submit myself to the unholy rustic void. Also, now that I think about it, phrozenspite, Malefic never has worked with a digital medium, even on Twilight he submitted his contributions by mail... interesting.

Apparently it was going to be just based around SH, rather than actually named Silent Hill, but they bowed to pressure from the fans (ie they were trying to get away with ripping the concept off but got found out) and renamed it. The stills I've seen look amazing, I REALLY hope they dont fuck this up,dumb it down and add some shit nu-metal to the soundtrack etc etc Id like to see what Takashi Miike could do with SH really.

It looks like they are using an original soundtrack...I should imagine that most sounds are from the game itself...it'd be such a waste if they didn't use game sounds cause they are amongst the best ever for creating the ambience this movie will need.

The music in the trailer did sound like Akira Yamaoka. Can anyone confirm this?

*checks IMDB* hmmm nothing on there. *checks Google* unfortunately I can't find anything definate but I did find this:
"From the start Christophe Gans said he would indeed be using Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, however a few weeks/months ago there were some rumors to the contrary. I’m happy to say that the trailer uses the some of the good old Silent Hill music we’ve come to love , notably Promise (Reprise) from SH2 and Hometown from SH3. Hopefully Yamaoka is still in the mix Silent Hill just isn’t Silent Hill with out him!"

Regarding rumours: No, the film has always been officially sanctioned by Team Silent, and they've also had a hands-on influence in the making of the film. The rumours of it being a rip-off are erroneous. Akira Yamaoka does indeed provide the music for the film, the rumours to the contrary were started because another person has been brought in to edit and synch his music up to the film, just because Yamaoka's inexperienced at that and he wanted an expert.

This does indeed sound promising. But I'll hold any judgements til I walk out of the cinema.

Has anyone read any of the Silent Hill comics? The artwork to some of them was absolutely glorious but the writing and its mistreatment of the whole thing made me vomit inside my eyeballs.

Some London cinema site says they're screening it from Friday 21st April so I guess this is the official release in the UK.

I tried to sit and read those horrendous renditions of the Silent Hill world... but, the writing and general story made me far too disgusted (in a bad way, I assure you) to continue on. However, that artwork was - as mentioned - absolutely fantastic.

Wish I could led my eyes upon it. Is there any internet source just to check it's fragments?
