Greetings,
Can anyone give me any movie recommendations which are in accordance with insanity inducing TAOP treatments?
Seriously, I'm looking for movies which roughly resemble the atmosphere of the Deleted Scenes From The Transitional Hospital album: insanity, lunatic asylums, altered states of consciousness, Silent Hill, etc.

Well, Silent Hill you've probably gotten covered...
Very highly recommended is "Session 9", from the director of "The Machinist" (which I haven't gotten round to watching). This was an instrumental catalyst in the writing process of "Deleted Scenes".
"Eraserhead" and "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" are both arduous and tortuous by turns, and rather influential on the TAOP ethos, if not directly comparable; beyond those, "Tetsuo 2" is also enjoyable and pretty much everything from the Lynch canon gets a resounding thumbs up from the band.
If that's not enough to have you clawing at your eyesockets, I presume the standard catalogue of asian horror (Ju-on, The Eye, Ringu) are old news for you but important reference points nonetheless, we've been known to get a great kick from Cronenberg's "Videodrome", as well as "Jacob's Ladder". I could go on, but there's very little in film that cohesively reflects the TAOP aesthetic in particular detail. I hope there's enough there to keep you going for a few nights, anyhow.

Ooh...Jacob's Ladder arrived from Amazon yesterday and I was planning on watching it at the Witching Hour this evening. I'll have to track down erasurehead, I've been meaning to for a while now.
Not so relevent to 'Deleted...' but many Event Horizon samples are used in '..Ichneumon...'. Also in the Asian horror network, 'A Tale of Two Sisters' hits the spot nicely in my opinion.

I saw Session 9 yesterday and I can see why the Deleted Scenes... album comes to mind!  It's very intriguing move. The atmosphere is really great and so is the plot. I saw A Tale of Two Sisters some time ago and it was really spooky. Also the cinematography is awesome! I highly recommend it to everyone. |

I recently saw "Event Horizon" (at last was able to find it). I got from this movie much more than I could suspect and left disturbed a bit for two days perhaps. Very uncomfortably entertaining atmosphere and of course it was really pleasant to recognise speeches from whose samples were taken to complement the "Ichneumon Method". Good horror thriller indeed.
Session 9 also made great impression. The upshot got a bit surprising.

People have you seen The Descent? Survival horror with absolute dead end. Damn it this one is really well done. Even lost my appetite while watching it. Actually it has nothing to do with urban decay or related stuff but claustrophobia comes in reasonable doses.

Yea I was quite impressed with that film actually. My brother made me watch it and at first I was dead-set against it, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. The creatures looked fantastic and the atmosphere and claustrophobia of the whole thing was well done. Certainly. It was actually one of the factors that led to check that movie. Interesting which one from them he was... I started to look for Dog Soldiers as well.

Today I saw one the best horror movie in my life. Thailandian "Shutter" is a must see. It's scarier and more brooding than Ju On or Ringu. Highly recommended for every Axis fan. I myself actually already ordered it via eBay. |

This year from the same directors came another stunning movie. "Alone". Not as scary as the "Shutter" but equally beautiful. Both my mentioned movies are very impressive I can assure you. |
