Bergraven - "Doedsvisioner". If Shining would be more psychodelic less blues driven and less stupid with it's corny suicidal themes these bands would be the same...

Neurosis "Given to the Rising" this year. I was speechless when I heard it. Yakuza for some time already. "Samsara" especially lately.

Hmm....may get that as I like the new Shining release. I've probably mentioned them before but everyone should get Darkspace I and II (Avantgarde re-releases). II especially is ace! Very atmospheric. Poor production but it's one of the few releases where that adds to the atmosphere. A mixture of early Burzum/Emperor and dark ambient stuff.

Finally got 'In Sadness, silence and Solitude' by Raison d'être. What a great album! The new Desiderii Maginis album is sounding good 4 tracks in too.

Wow...ordered an album on the off-chance that it might be good and it's a corker! Dark-ambient for 2 tracks at about half an hour each. First track brings to mind the drones of Maeror Tri leading on to some static interference. The second has everything an Axis fan could want, the drones, tortured screams, haunting scary ambience which reminds me of Deleted Scenes II- In the Gauze-womb of the God Becoming. Shades of The Axis, Pulsefear, Maeror Tri and Raison d'être. All in all, I'm well impressed with this! It's Negru Pulse- Madeira and available from Cold Spring (and others no doubt). It's a collaberation between Peter Nyström (Negru Voda / Megaptera) and Mathias Josefson (Moljebka Pvlse). Get it!!

I think I see what you mean with the comparison. Falling Twilight is amazing and In Absence of Light and The Well of Sadness are my 2 other faves. The other tracks are great too but those are the 3 I get most unjoyment from.

I also recommend this video. The song is okay, the vocals kind of border on the comical. They're called Silencer from Sweden and their singer apparently got institutionalised as he went insane. He now apparently has a dark-ambient/industrial project funded by the State to keep him from going totally doolally. However, it's the video I'm interested in, it's from an actual film called 'Begotten' and it looks terrifying! Anyone seen it??? www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QacADp-hV8

Yep, I know Silencer for sometime already. I think vocals are pathetic beyond words. The whole release is spoiled only by them. And what's all that case with anti-jew thing out there I don't get it. At least two songs has lyrics related to that topic. Whatever... I would recommend to people of this forum french Elend. "A World in their Screams" is devastating. One the highlights of this year.

The Silencer record, especially that track, is extremely indebted to Bethlehem's Dictius Te Necare. I have no real problem with that, though, since I absolutely love Bethlehem and what Reiner Landfermann achieved on that album. And I don't find the vocals comical at all, in fact I would expect somebody unfamiliar with black/extreme metal to find them genuinely disturbing.
I wholeheartedly agree with your Elend comment, though. A World In Their Screams really is magnificent and I'd expect any fan of The Axis to instantly fall in love with it. It's between that and Fas for album of the year in this household (so far...).

I could comment on 'Fas...' but I'm trying to find out where the Amazon package has disappeared to that contains it and should have arrived 2 weeks ago.

Yeah, that's good one. Truly immersing dark drone ambient. Kind of combination of both aformentioned projects but Moljebka Pvlse seem to take dominating part.

Canadian noiser Sistrenatus is giving me good portion of un-joyment past few weeks. The latest (and already sold-out) album " Wrought Iron Railing" simply hits the spot. It is a very eclectic release in a sense that one can find death industrial, dark ambient, noise, power electronics and more things within the sounds down there. Little preview.
