I thought I'd start a thread for anyone to post new albums they think an 'Axis' enthusiast may like.
This may have something to do with me getting very absorbed into my newly arrived copy of AboryM's 'Generator'. Also, you'll like it if you're a fan of Red Harvest, Mine[Thorn], etc I reckon. It's more atmospheric than WNHI and the songs possibly less complicated but it's tearing my speakers apart on a daily basis at the moment. Also, it starts with a nice little piece of...dare I say it...dark-ambient.

Hrm... well, for those on the more "kvlt" Black Metal leaning, I would suggest Black Lodge from France. They're hyper-industrialized Black Metal with some massive leanings on Technology and Drugs (if you're into the latter). Their new album "Solarkult" just came out, I believe. I don't believe it's for everyone, and it's quite violent, so be wary if you're not normally into this stuff.
For a bit more, if any of you haven't already heard them... please-oh-please for the love of the rust-encrusted walls, pick up Blut Aus Nord (also from France). They're a terrific blend of Industrial, Ambient, and Black Metal, and I believe that there was once a split planned between them and The Axis! (Which turned into "Thematic Emanation....." and "Physical Illucinations...." respectively). However, it's only with "The Work Which Transforms God" did they really come into their sound, so I suggest any denizens of the filth who are interested to pick it up straight away

Got one for those who liked Bass Communion, and other more ambient acts. Just been sent a copy of a track called Faith by James Harlow. You can check out an edit of it here www.myspace.com/jabladav1 and he's selling the CD (containing the full 10 minute piece plus the edit) for $5 (limited to 100 copies, numbered). Rather enjoying this at the moment

Necessarily new? It would be hard to come up with it For Lovecraftian enthusiasts I strongly recommend to check out Bestia Centauri from USA (I've mentioned it earlier). It is not dark ambient, but rather odd electro-acoustic labyrinths. Very twisted and otherwordly. Somnabalunt Records. From metal I would point December Wolve's last effort "Blasterpiesce Theatre". It was released for sometime now but that is something quite special. Urbanistic post-black with thrash metal slant. Alien sounding thing and not for faint-hearted. Intense and twisted. Void (from UK). Futuristic and progressive post-blackened metal with electronics and programmed rhythms. Awesome instrumentation, similar to Thorns but alot more mazy. It affects me like strong drug. I want to mention one of old rare Norwegian highlights namely Ved Buens Ende. I still wonder why they splitted up to form Dodheimsgard while VBE was alot more expressive and musicaly outspoken. It is like surreal psychodelic journey into I don't know where.

Well, it seems that my filth-encrusted brain had left out one key reccomendation that I believe every Axis fan should check out: Darkspace.
They're an actual Space (lyrically and conceptually) based Black Metal band from Switzerland of all places, with some major Dark Ambient influences/interludes/parts. It features the man behind Paysage D'Hiver (if anyone is familiar) on guitar and vocals. Although the discs have been long sold-out from their label (Haunter of the Dark) they can be easily found on any P2P program or such. I personally reccomend the album Darkspace II, although both Darkspace I and Darkspace -I (which can be downloaded from their ultra-confusing website) are both great.

I have recalled one perspective australian band called The Amenta. Their recent album "Erebus" is not bad. Some people categorize them as industrial metal but I would disagree a bit. It's kinda futuristic death metal. I don't say it is similar but somewhere in that field where first Myrkskog and Zyklon albums were If here are anyone into black harsh industrial similar to early MZ.412 I suggest to check out swedish Deadwood album 8 19. Very exhausting and very opressive.

I saw it on a mail order company's website for cheap and the site no longer works! Damn. Received through the post today: Kammarheit- Asleep and well hidden (I'm listening to it now, very eerie dark-ambient. Sounds very good/scary.) Megaptera- Beyond the Massive Darkness 2CD. Lustmord- Heresy. The others will be played in due course.

Yes "Occasus" indeed. I just cofused with the name of the first track. Kammarheit's "Assleep and well hidden" is awesome. Check out later "Starwheel". It is even more magnificient perhaps. Also I strongly recommend Inade.

Ahh, speaking of Kammarheit. I can highly reccomend Sephiroth (off of the Cold Meat Industry label).. terrific tribal-based percussion parts, and the CDs are absolutely full with an atmosphere of "life" I should say.
Invercauld (off of Cyclic Law) is also quite good... although not as "wrong" as Kammarheit, they have an uparalled atmosphere of the rain and fog (although I fail to see where the supposed Celtic influences come in).
Now, speaking of Kammarheit... I personally prefer the "Starwheel"... absolutely perfect album in all ways.

I will get Starwheel soonish then. Cheers! I already have Sephiroth's 'Dracnian Poetry' which is very good. Got Megaptera's 'Curse of the Scarecrow' too. Not listened yet. And there's a whole track from Keep of Kalessin's 'Armada' for download which I'll have saved soon.

Not a CD but I recommend the first 2 DVD set of the Masters of Horror compilations. It has a John Carpenter movie which I thought was very good and an adaption of Lovecrafts 'Dreams in the Witch House' which was okayexcept it wasn't scary enough and Brown Jenkins- the rat with the human face was rather lame when it should have been creepy. Still, future editions of these bi-monthly sets will have one hour films from Takashi Miike and the director of Session 9 amongst others.

Here's a new one, and from Japan!
Endless Dismal Moan. One of the very, very few artists on the Blackmetal.com label that I think is absolutely terrific; it has a huge emphasis on Japanese style Horror (which, if anyone knows anything about Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Japanese Horror cinema, etc. etc.) in atmospheric feel (nothing like The Axis' brand though, that I swear). Really repetative drums, and a very odd guitar tone really hype up the atmosphere... and the new album "Lord of Nightmare" really hit the spot with me, as well did the previous self-titled effort... but I can more heavily reccomend the new material.

Melek Tha are something quite similar to Axis as they have a crushing dark atmospheric aspect to their sound. Their albums can range quite a bit from Power Electronics with black metal elements, to Dark ambient and Martial...
