I assume you know Code had TAOP's Dan on drums in his continuing mission to drum for every metal band on the planet?

Certainly And he did a very good job as expected. Pitty he did not appear public that evening.

I felt sick that I had to miss <Code> when they played London in December (due to work). I posted something on The Dam Mullins part of the forum. Guess he doesn't check it too often, heheh. Nouveau Gloaming is still one of my favourite BM albums of the last 5 years. I need to see them before Kvohst stops touring with them. It won't be quite as 'haunting' with Simen Hestnaes on vocals. Still, hopefully I'll be proven wrong when they release it at the end of the year.

Then I suppose you should get to Brutal Assault because most likely this will be Code's last performance with Kvohst. On the offtopic part personally I'm worried that Simen happens to be Code's vocalist of choise. His voice is far to sweet for this matter...

I agree that his voice is too 'sweet' but on the Arcturus live DVD, he does somewhat replicate the old Garm deep voice siinging style so who knows, he may just replicate the haunting style of Kvohst.

Just few hours ago I've been to....Bjork. I know perhaps here is not very appropriate place to talk about this artist but I like her and her music to some degree and was tempted to see her performance. What can I say. It was great maybe nearly but not perfect due to the fact that it could have been lasted a bit longer

So I have survived Brutal Assault...What a muddy hell it was. Mayhem were the first highlight for me. Attila voice was really beyond the words. They played two songs from the last album. "Freezing Moon" wowed by many did not hook me at all because in my opinion other tracks were executed a lot better during that show. Primordial were among those "must see" as well. Tremendous performance what more to say. This was flawless. I want more Primordial. Neurosis were the highlight of the night. For the brief moment I forgot where I am (I mean Brutal Assault). They were the only ones who used synthesis of music and visuals. Enchanting. <Code> again...Very good although the performance wasn't very different from what I saw in Germany few months ago. Hangout with them just after their show made my day. Cool guys. Sodom were ace. Far more interesting and entertaining then Exodus the first day. As you might guess Cradle of Filth lured the biggest crowd during whole festival. And one can only wonder why. My problem is that they were the most boring band to me. Just meh.... There were many many good and interesting bands but those mentioned above were what I came for (except for CoF).

Work won't give me time off to go to Paradise Lost / MDB / Anathema in London next month. What a shower of bastards...

Paradise Lost / MDB / Anathema in London Now that is a truly legendary set of the bands. Even though MDB are the one that changed the least over the years.

We are but slaves to the machine. You heard the new Anathema album yet? Aye, it's very good, but it could've been a little better. A lot of the acoustic rearrangements aren't daring enough. The best songs on there by far are the ones that are the most different from the originals, whereas the ones that feel like straight rerecordings (eg. "Leave No Trace") are all very nice but you have to think "What was the point in that exactly?".

Went to see Negura Bunget last night at The Purple Turtle in Camden. Despite some initial sound difficulties which were soon sorted out, they were incredibly good and very polite to! It's good to see such manners from a band. Very atmospheric set and they brought all the traditional instruments from Romania to play. They focussed mainly on Om material which is probably a good thing. Fen, another band releasing an album on Code666 in January were the support act and were excellent too. The second support, Scythian (?) were pretty good too. All in all, a great night despite the venue being a bit shitty (though I liked the smallish size of it).

I finally saw Shining a week ago. This was impressive performance and according to them, one of the best they ever did in two years. That's pleasing. They played nearly an hour and half and brought all belonging elements to their show (blood, offensive behaviour, etc...). They also presented three new songs. Actually they are cool people. Maybe a bit shy (considering they are from Sweden that's okay) but i didn't expect that they will do the after party. Shining spills hate and grudge upon audience and still they adore it with great joy. Maybe it is the part of the show. Maybe not...

Shining were interesting when I saw them live, maybe the show was a little bit exaggerated, but that´s a small issue.
Merzbow is going to play in Prague in march. And SunnO))) are rumoured to be there in july. I´ ve got to start saving money, haha.
