So an absolute non-shambles then?! Indeed. The anti-shambles, if anything.

Strange to relate, Axis got reviewed in The Wire this month. I imagine for most of the music they cover it's a particularly unwelcome, grimy bedfellow.

I can't imagine them gushing about it or owt, being more 'mainstream'. Still, from what I've (not) seen, they've given it more time that either Tez or ZT. Not sure about Metal Hammer.

The Wire are pretty down with the more avant excursions of BMish music nowadays and the piece was done by former Terrorizer Editor Joe Stannard, who's a regular contributor. It was optomistic in tone but as Joe admitted, not very informative because he got very little space to work with for it. We've got people on our side now at ZT so hopefully it'll pop up in the next issue. I haven't been checking Metal Hammer because it comes sealed in a plastic bag and it's something like a fiver, which for me is a lot of money to spend on the chance that it might be in there. In terms of features, so far we've had one interview request from a webzine but that's it. I've done my answers but I need to proofread them.

That sounds hopeful then (ZT that is). I too only read MH if some oik has torn into the plastic bag before me and left it out on the shelf at WH Smiths As for Tez, don't know what's going on there but I didn't renew my subscription. Got free ones trying to get me to stay with them for about 6 issues (!!) but that convinced me more that I had made the right choice.

I got my copy yesterday and have just come from my first listen of it. While I am somewhat saddened at Les's comparative absence, I thought the album was quite excellent overall. I'll need further listens to pick out what songs stand out for me in particular, but I agree with some of the others on here that Brooke's vocals are at their best (worst?) yet. In a lot of places he sounds like he's vomiting, which seems somehow appropriate. I also didn't see the story's ending coming at all, but thought it was a very fitting way to finish it up, and I especially liked the references to the Ichneumon method in the lyrics and liner notes. The smudged, difficult-to-read words didn't bother me so much once I figured out how to read them, and the only real complaint I have packaging-wise is that the lyrics for "Sigils and Portents" and "The Flesh Spiral" were switched around, as also observed by a couple of others on here. I appreciated the liner notes, though thanks to the inclusion of the lyrics I think it's not too difficult to figure out most of what's going on without them.
That's my take on it. Sorry if it's put together rather disjointedly, I blame Pylon. ;D

Are there any recent interviews on the web where "Tenements..." is discussed?

We've got an interview through from one webzine that's still waiting to be completed, will have to get round to that. That's the only interview request so far (to my knowledge).
(Edit) and the other interview I mentioned a few posts ago, which I don't think has appeared.
