Alright, so I've picked up the courage to post one of my feeble works in the lair of the masters. This is a single, minimalistic dark ambient track I made last year, when going through quite a mentally isolated yet very inspired period. I'm self-critical to the point of creative amputation, so I don't get a lot done, and I can't really say that I'm all happy about the way this came out either. Note that I'm everything but a sound engineer; I'm an instrumentalist, and this was pretty much the first time I sat down in a studio to do something by myself. Also, the studio equipment I had access to was, to say the least, poor. As was my knowledge about said equipment. Anyway, I thought I might give a shot at uploading everything, since one's own work always sounds worse in one's own ears than those of others. It's a very minimalistic, heavily Lustmord-inspired track, with which I intended to create an aural portrait of a place where no life has dwelled for centuries, and where there are only machines left, soullessly performing their duties without any direct purpose. The setting, more specifically, as well as the nature of the machines, are up to you to decide. Anyway, don't be too hard on me. I'm a newbie in every sense of the word. I just felt heavily inspired and encased within my own world of aural and mental imagery, and decided to make something of it. The track's name is Vicinity/Distance. www.megaupload.com/?d=HW0VC9DG

You have an OK track over here. I actually liked it. It doesn't remind Lustmord to me that much. Rather Atrium Carceri's damper tracks. A bit (i'm sure you are aware of this project). Such minimal approach makes this track quite suitable for game as a background in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot, really! Never thought I'd get to hear such positive things about it. I'm familiar with Atrium Carceri, although I haven't heard that much, but Cellblock is a great album. What else can you recommend by him?

I echo Brooke's comments, there's a nice strong vibe there and the track never gets boring. However when it comes to dark ambient I almost always need something album length to really immerse myself in.

All of them are good in their own way. Similar yet different. The last one is awesome. Somewhat a lot more mellow than all previous works but still very dark and dreamy. Kind of trademark of this project: dark but not very heavy or oppressive. It is also quite cinematic as you perhaps noticed. Just grab every and all of them.

Thanks a lot for the comments Brooke and Mike. I didn't think I'd come up with anything good, but after the positive feedback I might try to come up with something more, if I can find the time and patience. After all, you're absolutely right about dark ambient being best suited for lengthy contexts.

I will try... Although I always have a hard time actually sitting down and starting something, and thus I hardly get anything done. Also, I'm a reckless self-critic, and extremely prone to get bored/disillusioned and abandon a project right in the middle of it. That track was actually supposed to be about twice as long... So it's kind of a negative spiral. I desperately want to express and create, but all this indifference that I can't get rid of screws it all up.

Here's another(relatively) new track. Musically, it's mostly my work, but I made it at a friend's studio and he did most of the mixing and engineering. This too was intended to be longer; however, in the midst of the process, we suffered what must be the 8th breakdown in our three-year friendship, and are no longer speaking. How rock 'n' roll, eh? www.megaupload.com/?d=1UD0PXT6It's called The History Of God, and it's probably some kind of noise/ambient hybrid. Some TAOP inspiration can be found, at least from my side.
