You should. I got it because of the reference in Ichneumon which I was and still am really into. It's a space horror that has a very 'wrong' atmosphere and provides some of 'Ichneumon's' best samples. And Sam Neill is great in it. It's probably about a fiver in either HMV or Virgin in their 'sale'.

I'm intrigued and not only because it is refered to "Ichneumon" Interesting what are opinions about about Koji Suziki's "The Ring" and Takashi Shimizu's "Grudge"?

Event horizon is great I love it. not sure which Ring you mean there, if its the Sadako video one then yes it made me sex wee. Ive not seen the original grudge the US version was odd enough. last night i saw a cool indie film called 'The Carrier' its horror but not scary just realy odd and very very bleak... the only problem with watching stuff is that we dont usualy need our eyes down here...

Hi Brooke, I think you should track down the original Japanese 'The Grudge'. It's a bit hard to follow at times but delivers with the creepiness! Though I must admit, I found the ring rather overrated (admittedly, the ending had been spoilt by a friend letting it slip). I just got 'R-Point', that was okay as is 'A Tale of two sisters'. Also got 'The Calamari Wrestler' which looks as bad as it sounds. Oh...and Sympathy for Mr Vengence is rather good (though not horror).

I have access (or axis) to the original but the thing is im a wuss! When i watch a horror i purposely put my self in a state of mind to get monged out by it and the american grudge made me sleep with the light on for a few days! i have heard that the original grudge was worse so theres no way im watching it just yet!

huzah i'm not the only one! I saw the american Grudge at the cinema and it fucked with my head for ages. The fact that you aren't safe ANYWHERE really got me....everyone knows you can hide from a boogeyman in your bed....so why doesn't it work for freaky looking ghosts? Also, on the bus, broad daylight surrounded by people...surely you're safe there? FUCK NO! Her face is horrible!
Hehe, my mate screamed twice when we saw this film, once right at the beginning when that lass investigates the attic from within the wardrobe and also the bus bit.
I'm never watching this film ever, ever again. And yet, it didn't affect my brother...who finds the scariest bit in a film ever is the librarian ghost in Ghostbusters (by the way he is 26). weird how different things affect different peoples perception of "scary".

I watch it when I feel most succeptible to fear. I'm a bit of a sado-masorchist in that way. I make the throaty noise of the ghost/monster woman down the phone to my girlfriend. She hates it because The Grudge (Ju-On, the original) scared several shades of sproose moose out of her. We may not be together much longer. Edit: Sproose moose? I would never EVER say that. I didn't realise saying the sh** word wasn't allowed. Apologies for spreading filth into the hospital (adding to the MRSA and filth already here)

I find americans Grudge version not that bad. It is quite entertaining, yet has good amount of tension.

Strangely I've recalled another movie I liked "House on the haunted hill". Yeah corny name very sucky characters but I find overall atmosphere very well portraid. And the opening track is simply killer

And the opening track is simply killer Is that the one that starts really well, carries on nicely and falls to pieces at the end when the black stuff comes out of the walls thus making everything suddenly very unscary? Because if that's the one, it's great until just over half the way through!

That same. Two survivors spoiled the ending. Ah, skrew those yankees

"House on Haunted Hill"; the moment where the doctor looks up at the camera during the operation early on is paramount horror. So much of that film is worthwhile but indeed, the final half-hour or so is definitively under-par. Most lacklustre.

Definately. And the bit just after where there's a dark figure in the corridor that suddenly rushes at the camera. The doctors lurching walk, knife in hand is pretty freaky too.
But the ending is still a pile of cack.
