Work, art, life, etc. They revolve in steps, some giant, others small. Or shall I say slither, 'round these parts? I'm truly here to say that I'm interested in forthcoming Axis music, and to report that I have been utterly disappointed with most if not all extreme metal lately, ( although The Amenta may have a good one in the pipeline) but I do have faith that Axis will resolve my indifference towards numerous cannibal acts that fester within genres, spoiling the enthusiasm for seekers like myself. The music last heard from Axis was really starting go somewhere, and I'm truly hoping it will get there. Let us all praise them for whatever dissonant landscapes they drag us through this time.
( what have you squirming up your sleeves currently? )

We've gone to bleak, harrowing place that we haven't really had the balls to explore previously in the axis canon. I wouldn't call it extreme metal anymore, though there's always a thread of metal running through our work. I don't know where it's gone from where we or you expected on the basis of "Deleted...", but suffice to say it's approaching the core of what we do and why we do it. And it's nearly ready.
PS. In my experience work, art and life don't revolve in steps, they trample each other mercilessly in one huge painful rampage...

They have work in steps for me, until I'm ready to make them all nearly as one as I would be willing to. If they trampled each other in a rampage, I think things would become too chaotic to the point where I would lash out uncontrollably and ultimately enter a place where I was forced to realize my existense and its raw purpose. Then after a cooling period, I would balance everything out and fopcud only on what is necessary, shaving off the unbeneficial mutations that couldn't possibly help me to adapt to my current surroundings. These would not necessarily be physical, or part of me for that matter.
Anyway, I'm unsurprised (and very interested) to hear that Axis has taken a route where the extreme metal leanings have become less warranted. it seems to me that much of what I liked abot extreme metal came out of what tones were generated, not so much as what pattern the notes fell into. Which is probably why I've been listening to a lot of ambient music lately, almost casually, yet the hovering, semi-artificial tones capture my attention and focus and bring my state of mind to a new level. Gosh, that sounded cliche.
I suppose this next question is something we'd all care to read: when will the new recordings/experiments be released to the ravenous public?
Thanks for your time and thoughts, they're much appreciated.

I confess to lack of surprise on the metal elements front also. I discovered the Dark Ambient genre thanks to The Axis/Mike's recommendations both in interviews and on this rather grubby boards and I'd say I'm more immersed in that music style than metal at the moment although both are a (dis)passion.
