Works of Ein is proud to announce its first release, the debut album from English death metal fanatics CONTAIGEON. Feel free to spread this news, download will be available from www.worksofein.com from 1st June and is currently available for streaming in full. DEATH AT THE GATES OF DELIRIUM contains ten tracks of raging, ragged death metal in the vile tradition of MORBID ANGEL and CANNIBAL CORPSE, taking lyrical inspiration from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and the horrid visuals of Beksinski, Carson and Seagrave etal. CONTAIGEON formed in late 2008 with the intent of creating filthy death metal crawling with morbid riffs and no external genre contamination. 2009 was spent writing DEATH AT THE GATES OF DELIRIUM which was then recorded later that year in CONTAIGEONS own Sanctum of Disease studio. The album was mixed and mastered at Alchemellia Hospital by Brooke Johnson (The Axis of Perdition, Mine[thorn], THS, Dawn of Chaos ect). Only on the third track so far, but this is absolutely awesome. Very crushing death metal with enough unique flair to stand out from the slew of clones.
If this ever sees a physical release of some kind I'd definitely buy a copy.

Why did u lock the 'works of Ein' thread as i wanted to put this there?
'but is not limited to' would be my favorite part of that statement as only 2 of those genres interest me much, but you should make the physical releases available if possible as people deserve to make as much money as they can from their hard work. I would wonder of free downloads would cut into that (or maybe word of mouth from downloads helps idk - NEVER take advice from me!), and i always like having a disc in my hands. I look forward to seeing what bands come out of this nevertheless. Good Luck!

We honestly didnt think any one would want to comment there so locked it, its open now though. Bit of essay now! The problem with physical media is the cost. just for e.g. A very basic CD with full colour art, 4 page booklet. transparent tray ect, costs about £1.60 per unit, so a minimum run of 500 units is going to be £800 plus tax, plus shipping. Then there is the cost of storage and distro which makes the price of the unit go up quite sharply. In the UK the big music chain HMV usuall add £6 - 8 to the price of any cd they stock. Also there is the cost of advertising, a lot of print mags wont give you more than a basic back page review unless you buy ad space. a full colour one page add in a certain mag im sure many of us read costs about £2000 and they are at the cheaper end. CD sales have nose dived and combined with the costs outlines above means its not financially viable for us to do standard print runs, people will download it any way. Its a shame as we are all still of the generation that values a physical artifact, I still pore over liner notes and artwork and its now a major factor in wether or not I buy the item in question. We would have loved to have the Contaigeon out on cassette (OLDE SKOOLE!!) or a nice vinyl edition like that Tetian Blood LP in the hesper thread or even some kind of rough card digipak but it just wasnt possible. We are looking into super limited special editions for releases in hand made packaging ect hopefully the Halo album will be available this way we are also investigating 'print on demand' facilities that will allow people to purchase a physical album in a basic jewel case for minimum cost with most of the proffits (if any) going to the band. Earache records actually released the last Gama Bomb album as a free download and CD/Vinyl and initial sales figures seem to have increased over the previous album (see more on this at www.askearache.blogspot.com/ ) so who knows? I suspect that there will always be people who, like us, want a physical item and having free downloads avaialbe can only help get the name about.

In regards to "print on demand" services, I know (V.E.G.A.) released their latest album in that manner through Amazon, it comes in a basic jewel case with a 4 page insert and "pro" CDr (as in artwork is printed on the face of the disc itself). I don't know how much of a cut Amazon take from the artist though, but it might be worth looking into if you're going down that route.

A good slab of brutality this. Like the cover art a lot too!

Thanatos - Oh, I thought that Far From You was spread only electronically with no physical mediums distributed at all.
Contaigeon sounds really good. It's brutal and unusual but still delivers a good portion of atmosphere.

This one is a good slap of death metal. Nice raw approach to it and some tracks are very well combined with those noisy bits. The vibe of the songs very well translates the concept and this is always the most important thing. The artwork is just ace. I'd love to have a poster of it!

thanks for the kind words, glad people are digging it! Having looked into tons of POD places we faound one that offeres the best compromise on unit price, packaging and shipping so that link will be going up from 1st June, also a maybe looking into doing something similar for the cover art as a few people seem to dig it enough to want poster. my question is this though, would you want it with or with out the band logo and title?

i wouldn't mind a logo but the title seems quite useless.

I'd want a poster definitely I love the artwork. Are those little 4 lights in the picture a small procession of people, or little plants with lights?
