Try using a joystick I completed Silent Hill on Hard last month, finally unlocked the Katana, now there's nothing more to unlock, 100%. Silent Hill 2 isn't hard, not even on Extreme difficulty. Silent Hill 3 has 10 Extreme levels, I haven't tried to play them yet. Silent Hill 4 is 100% completed here, too. Almost everything on Origins... God... I'm such a nerd... I want to play Homecoming, but PS3 is just too expensive here (Brazil), around R$2300,00 (you can buy 3 iPhones with it). X360 seems to be a nice option, only R$1200,00... I don't want the PC version, I already found thousands of download links, but I don't want to download the game... For now, I'll just keep playing my SH games on my old, but awesome, PS2... PS: I have a feeling like my english is turning to engrish...

Right now i'm past the middle of IT. Great visual and atmosphere but strange as it is most aspects are borrowed from the movie and not from previous games (the way how environment changes "when sirens scream and darkness comes", the outfit and and general look of Pyramidhead, those Silent Hill cultists in dirty mechanical suits. Fighting tactics are quite easy to develop. They actually applied comfortable keyboard and mouse control system so now it's quite fun to play it on pc. The story by far seems to be "hollywooded" a bit and does not come even close to what was The Second. It seems there are to many people from the same community involved in all story and the whole deal doesn't look very "psychological". Good thing riddles still are here. Bad thing perhaps that very few of them will require to think harder how to solve them. Quite easy really. Still it is really worth a try even though some devotees been disappointed by the outcome.

I assume everybody should be aware by now that new one is to be completed soon. Silent Hill: shattered Memories. Climax did that again. Don't even know what to think about what saw really. Sort of remake but viewed from different angle. I'm a bit sceptical though Origins looked decent enough and gave great entertainment. Gone are rust and blood. Snow and ice instead. Fair enough keeping in mind that it was present in The First (the only one i hadn't got through yet). But Silent Hill will never be as intimidating, compelling and even touching again as it was when Team Silent were at the wheel. The good thing that Akira Yamaoka continuously stays in line and still provides music which in very large part makes Silent Hill what it is. Ok, let's wait and see how things will turn out.

I think "Shattered Memories" looks pretty good, based on the trailer I've seen. I think it's quite brave of them to deliberately move outside the "Silent Hill" comfort zone and also greatly increase the disquieting psychological edge, what with Harry's apparent mental breakdown and so on, his unhealthier, more ambiguous look. It may not be the Silent Hill we're necessarily used to but it gives me a buzz I haven't had from the series for a while. To be honest, apart from a few rare exceptions I've found Akira Yamaoka's work to be quite phoned in and lacklustre on the last couple of soundtracks. I hope if he's still insisting on clinging on to the sound design/music role, he can summon up a bit more enthusiasm and drive for it this time.

Yep, for instance i miss his more industrial sounding tracks though some ambient parts rare really standout for me. It seems he is a bit trapped in he's own created cliché. But perhaps it was inevitable given for how long he participates in the development of series. Anyway he is still able to make some good stuff in my opinion. Also being perhaps the last original member of the team he knows what it's all about and partly supervises whole process as i understood. I remember one interview where he complained that Americans don't fully grasp the concept behind Silent Hill. No wonder. It is a Japanese thing after all. Good point about psychological approach. Might be that Shattered Memories will succeed while Homecoming wasn't developed deeply enough in this case. Who knows.
I firstly thought it will be released exclusively on Wii but appears that PSP and PS2 versions will be available as well. Cool.

Ok, here it goes again. Now the Silent Hill 8 is in the works already. They resumed it pretty fast I'd say. Interesting how this one will turn out. Silent Hill 8 Trailer - E3 2010 P.S. Has anyone tried "Shattered Memories"?

I have to say its a little underwhelming, it looks like a spirited but ultimately flawed cover version if you see what I mean.

Are you referring to "Shattered Memories" or "Silent Hill 8"? I personally kind of learned not to rate them according to works of Team Silent, but merely interested in turns taken by the series. Just to be aware of how it is exploited by other studios. I'll probably get to play the 8th when it is released anyway. Still have to try SM sometime...

Onto topic regarding Silent Hill again. Those who still keep some interest in it probably aware that so called "Book of Memories" was kind of the last and rather cynical nail to the coffin of this once great but now completely undignified franchise. However, I came across some very interesting rumor. Metal Gear Solid is extremely well developed and rich franchise, always offering cinematic experience, so if a new Silent Hill would be done with the similar approach and by Japanese team, it would probably redeem the decadent directions it took recently. At least partly. On the other hand, most would agree, that there always comes a time to die. Too bad that sometimes it is doomed to be not considered. But since Konami is huge commercial company, they have their own (and I guess quite simple) reasons.

While I quite enjoyed "Origins" despite it being a bit recycled and I liked what I saw of "Shattered Memories", but apart from the innovations of the latter I think the series has been running on fumes since "The Room". While I've no illusions about the nature of video games as commercial enterprise, nonetheless it seems to have become overtly franchised at the expense of everything that made it special. It's a shame, as from '99 to '03 it seemed like proper art rather than an exercise in marketing.
I really wish we hadn't let ourselves get pigeonholed as some sort of Silent Hill theme band by using samples and themes so brazenly on the "Physical" E.P.

Well, I think that is what made the EP sort of special. Even though you used samples from SH3 a lot, it is certainly far from being abused. I would even dare to say, it gave some sort of amplification. Also, it is TAOP I have to be thankful to, that I got into the series of Silent Hill, which greatly extended my perception on some things, and I would shamelessly admit being influenced by it myself. So I take no regrets from you about it seriously
